The power of Social Media in politics: A president elected through Facebook

I wouldn’t normally write or speak politics on the blog, since it’s not my area of expertise, but I do work with Social Media for a couple of years now, and I can’t hold myself from not sharing this to you. I’m not going to analyze the campaign or strategy here, though!

In Romania, my homeland, Sunday 16 november 2014, it was a big day in the history of democracy. Probably you all know one thing about this country: that it was under communism until 1989, december, when the leader Nicolae Ceausescu was executed in the revolution. Since then, the Social Democrats were leading the country most of the time. Yesterday, in the presidential elections, a new face was chosen, a christian-liberal (The Right) is going to lead the country for the next 5 years. The new president elected is Klaus Iohannis, a politician of german ethnicity. His chances to become a president were VERY LOW! Reasons for that are many, but some of them are:

  • A man of german ethnicity
  • He is a protestant in a country where orthodoxy is leading, and all other christian religions are considered sects, a country where the orthodox church has a lot of power;
  • He is not a normal politician – at his roots he is a physics professor, and for the last 14 years he was the mayor of Sibiu, the most beautiful town in Romania, and the chosen cultural capital of Europe in 2007, under his lead;
  • The party he ran in for the presidential elections has very low credibility in Romania;
  • Moreover, he doesn’t speak as a typical Romanian politician, he doesn’t promise things, but facts like stopping the corruption by canceling the law of protection for the officials in Romania, including the president himself – fact that will lead to many, many people in-prisoned in the next months/years.
  • The other candidate, Victor Ponta, is the actual Prime-Minister of Romania, so of course he has access to everything, including to the voting system in and outside Romania;
  • The government didn’t provide enough voting sections in other countries, so thousands of Romanians weren’t able to vote, even after 9 hours of staying in lines. Scandals had occurred in front of the Embassies because the people were angry they weren’t aloud to vote, and as a result, many Romanians were gassed by the police. (Unofficial, we know why now, after the votes – outside Romania, the actual Prime-Minister didn’t have a chance in votes)
  • The most important TV – Channels in Romania are owned by members in the party of the other candidate and they make lobby for him;
  • All the other parties in Romania, were supporting the other candidate, making public the reasons of: He is german, he is not an orthodox, he doesn’t fight in the debate with the other candidate – probably too educated and classy for the politic class of Romania at the time.

I think one more important thing that you guys should know is that intellectual Romanians stopped voting long time ago, because the corruption was so high, that votes were stolen or bought, and everyone lost hope in the voting system! Until yesterday, when more than 64% from the Romanians spoke loud and decided the future of this beautiful country by voting someone that will bring Romania to the standards of EU.

president elections in romania

Since, he didn’t have the same chances of lobbying in Tv-channels and other public media channels, he had a great team of social media and communication experts! The online environment was his only tool for showing us who he really is. His team created such a viral spread! He united all the Romanians from all around the world, and made them fight one more time since 89′, to get their country back. And they did! They didn’t only pushed the like and share buttons but they went out and voted, and their number was overtaking the other candidate.

It’s useless to tell you that those voting for this guy, are educated young people between 18 – 45 years old. And with few days before the elections, Angela Merkel was sending him a letter of support, since she trusts Romania will be in better hands under him. That’s quite cool!

So Europe, be aware, Romania starts to grow! And all thanks to Social Media and all other online tools, but mainly thanks to the people that woke up and went out to vote against the opposite side.

In 5 years, until the next elections, I wanna read this blog post, smiling, saying to myself I had right!

Even if I don’t live in Romania anymore, it will always be in my heart and I will always support the developing of this country. I want everyone to see how many beautiful things and people are in Romania! If you didn’t visit it yet, you should! If you don’t have any Romanian friends yet, you should make some! They are wonderful creatures with big hearts, they are family attached and hard working people. Of course, black sheep exists everywhere in the world…but look for the white ones! 🙂

If you want to know little bit more about Romania, check this video:

And if you ever think on planning a trip there, the best way is by going with someone that knows everything around, and I can recommend you with warmness Trip To Romania!

How to wear denim shirts

Burberry cape, Celine yellow bag, denim outfit, denim shirts, denim shirts combinations, denim spring 2015, Givenchy black bag, how to wear denim shirts, just saying, Michael Kors denim shirt

Hi everyone!!! Today I’ve been thinking about a question that one of my sweet friends was addressing me few days ago. She was wearing a beautiful denim shirt, similar to the Michael Kors model in the picture and she wasn’t sure if it’s still on trend. Well, my strong opinion is that everything that is well fitted and properly accessorized is always on trend, right? Moreover, the denim shirts have a long history of being or not being on trend. To me, it’s one of the pieces that
Never goes out of trend, I always find a piece of the new season that I can fit it with and make it a modern outfit. More than that, spring 2015 announces much denim in the skyline, from pants and shirts, to dresses.

My proposals for this season are in the collage. I chose two of my favorite outfits. You can wear the shirt with a pair of denim jeans of different tint, over knee brown-beige boots and a beige cape or a trench. If you are a more casual type, as I am in rainy days 🙁 combine it with a pair of black leather pants, boots of the same color and a big handbag. You can replace the knee boots with a pair of rock ankle boots or high heels, depending on your daily schedule and your mood. Don’t forget to add a necklace that will make a statement and a smile that will warm up the day of those around you!

Be aware: You will not be well dressed outside, if your inside is naked. 🙂 #justsaying

Have a lovely day, loves!

beauty, blonde with red lipstick, makeup, photography class, portrait of girl, powerful women, red lipstick, red soles, smart women wear red, super woman, thats my red, wear lipstick, women power

Hi to all beauties that are reading this! By reading this, it means you landed here either through that you knew my blog before and you are one of my community members, or you ended up here through a search on the internet over red lipstick, red lips or how to be a powerful woman. Either way, you are on the right road to becoming one hell of a woman!

This text will not teach you how to be a powerful woman, though. But it may help you look like one! Now let me explain you, dear, red lipstick does not grant you the entrance in the Heaven of powerful women, but it definitely grants you a one way ticket to the best YOU that can exist.

Why? It’s simple! The red lipstick gives you a super-power: SELF-CONFIDENCE! To me, it opened doors that are usually locked for women. Of course, without the brains, red lipstick would just be a color on the face. But a smart woman, one that is independent, that is influential, that create paths and followers to walk on them, wouldn’t get a plus by just using this incredible super-power? The reason I decided to write down this thought..

“Red lipstick makes you prettier in pictures”

Red is the color of the passion and love, and what is a woman without passion? A man, in my opinion. Be like a man: drive like a man, work like a man, think like a man, but don’t be one… Love like a woman, be passionate like only a woman can be and look like a woman. That doesn’t require you to wear skirts everyday, or high heels in every occasion, or makeup at work like you’re going to a party, but a minimum of lipstick and perfume you should wear EVERY TIME YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE! Even when buying bread! Believe me, people will observe you more, respect you more, admire you more and that’s a feeling we all are searching for no matter how deep inside us it’s hiding this desire.

For those of you who don’t dare to wear red lipstick:

Just do this experiment: buy a shade of red lipstick that suits your face and hair color (I’ll write soon the guide to red lipstick for every woman), use it every day for a couple of days and see how people react to your new look. Take feedback from their eyes, how often their eyes go to your mouth while speaking with you. That means you just unlocked a super power: Don’t forget that red lips intimidates people and in a negotiation process that is your secret weapon! Believe it or not, it always works for me.

My favorite formula is:

Brains + Experience + Red lipstick + Stilettos = Super Woman

red lipstick is for powerful women

That’s my RED

What is your success formula?

Too much hysteria for Alexander Wang for HM?

All this week, articles of Alexander Wangs capsule collection for H&M was buzzing my feed in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and all other social media networks. OK, people! We understood! It’s cool that you can buy Alexander Wang pieces for a H&M price! I myself love some of Wangs collections, and I am a lucky owner of few Alexander Wang outfits. But that doesn’t mean that I would stay hours in line for the new collection, even though I am a fashion addict!
Anyway, congratulations to the responsible for this marketing campaign strategy! He/she did a great job! They succeeded to gather thousands of people in lines in the stores and even crash the US website 🙂 The way? Well, promote the line for mooonths, invite some famous bloggers/fashion icons to the launching event, make them tweet, blog about it and about “how excited they are to be part of it” and sit back in your chair watching how the lines gets shape! And that’s how the hysteria begins!

I just looked at the collection and honestly, Alexander does better! I honestly wouldn’t pay 200 Euro for any Alexander Wang for HM boots when I know all the world is going to have them. 😀 I would use that same amount for a pair of customized shoes. But then again, that’s me.. And it really looks weird to me that on some tops is written with big letters: THIS IS A ALEXANDER WANG TANK. Isn’t that little bit snobbish?

Don’t forget: Follow fashion, but be different! Fashion is creating something you love, playing with the style, make yourself feel the way you want! Labels are not more important that creativity and style!

With love from Sweden,

An Alexander Wang non-desperate fan,

L
