Favourite beauty products right now!

Like in all the other aspects of my life, I am very picky in the selection of  beauty products that I like to use. I have strict rules regarding my hair for example, or my morning or evening beauty rituals.

One very important rule is that I never sleep with make up. NEVER! Therefore, I need to use a good, efficient and easy to use make up remover. In all the (many) years I’ve used make up, I found that the easiest-to-use and fastest-to-clean make up remover is always the winner! I use make up every day. Except for beach days when in vacation, and some days when I work from home and feel really lazy and slow, I use make up every day. Always wearing foundation, blush, lipstick and mascara, and most of the time eyeliner and eye shadows. Light smokey preferably. So you can imagine as such a make up afficionada, I really need to get rid of all that make up fast, easy and safe!

I’ve tried tons of removers, from creams, lotions, milks, for eye, for face, for lips, from different brands, different textures. My favourite right now is the Micellar Water from La Roche Possay 3 in 1.

Together with the Clarins Instant Eye Make Up Remover, they do the job, every night.

clarins double serumAs the 30s are approaching, (OMG — should I panic?) I started to investigate what serum would benefit my age, and maybe slow down the ageing process. I’m not there yet, where I want to solve and treat ageing signs, instead I’m looking more to prevent and slow them down. So, I started to use Clarins Double Serum and I can’t yet see any changes, of course, but its smell, texture and usability (the pump is intentionally built for you to customise the amount of serum you pump out according to your needs) makes a winner for the time being!

Rosenserien_carrot_oil

In combination with the serum, I joggle sometimes with this Carrot Oil from Rosenserien. It smells absolutely insane! Such natural scent and amazing color. I like to splash a little in my hand and palm it on my face, applying it all over my neck and cleavage and sometimes on my hair ends. I first tried this product when I got gifted 2 of them at the Stockholm Beauty Week and I loved it so much, I continued to use it. Because it’s oil, and my face skin is quite mixed, I don’t use it daily, but more like when my skin needs extra moisturising. It really gives me a glow and color to my face.

My favourite face mask right now is this Daniele de Winter Mask with hyaluronic acidaniele de witer monaco beauty tipsd & 24 karat gold particles. Shame on me, I’ve had this one for a long time on my shelve and it never crossed my mind what a treasure was inside it! With its perfect fluid consistency that doesn’t restrain my face when it dries, this mask makes my skin already look better before I even wash it out.

And really, it feels so fancy to say, I’m gonna go wash out this gold off my face!

Last, but not least, I have a new winner in my kitchen/beauty shelve: turmeric! Yes you’ve heard right. I got the idea from my friend Raluca, who knows almost everything about everything ecological, organic, healthy, homemade, & Co. So, she shared with me this Pin, and after looking for more info, I found even the mighty IntoTheGloss mentioning testing it right here.

Feel free to tips me on other tricks as well!

Stockholm Beauty Week 2016 – Impressions, Pictures & Favourites

≈ Comments Off on Stockholm Beauty Week 2016 – Impressions, Pictures & Favourites

One year has been since I’ve attended Stockholm Beauty Week for the first time. I knew I’ll be longing for more. The reason is simply because I love discovering brands, new beauty products, get a taste of their samples and try on-site treatments and tips.

Last week I did it again. I was a part of the press day and I got to hear every news and trends in organic and sustainable beauty and to walk around the various exhibitors, trying their products and pleasurably receiving samples to try at home.

I will express a few opinions here and my favourite products so far.

Starting with a brand I fell in love with at the first sight – you’ll see why – Daniele de Winter Monaco. It’s a beauty brand from Monaco, as the name states, that works on the principle of beauty inside out! Meaning they produce eatable and drinkable supplements to work together with the cosmetic products that they also offer. I love this concept of preserving the beauty from both inside and outside, as we all know that no matter how many creams or lotions we use or how good they are, what comes inside us has the ultimate word! To get along with the face creams, lotions and the other cosmetics Daniele de Winter is offering, they created this beautifully packaged sets of supplements that can contain natural ingredients for skin health and not only. Plus, they have this incredibly tasty chocolates packaged so fabulously, they’d make the perfect gift! I got a package myself and I am all over the clouds for it, I’m surely going to go on a diet with this. Look for yourself:

While walking around I noticed a bottle of argan oil that was very familiar to me, as recently I’ve just finished it. When heading towards it, I was approached by the founder of the brand L’Oelle, the one that is producing the argan oil that I’m in love with and I’m 100% sure is pure (in today’s market it’s very hard to find pure oils). We’ve both realised the similarity between our brand names, Lorellay vs Loelle, and thought that was funny. The fact that I met him there, was a great coincidence, he assured me their oils are 100% pure and natural from Morocco – the land of Argan, and how can that not be true, when he himself is half Moroccan? It was a great experience for me to meet him and validate my theory about the brand. I’ve been offered to try the Rosewater at home, and guess what? Right now when I’m writing this post I’m in Marbella on the beach, and have the bottle with me. I’m greatly in love with rose water forever now!

Going further with my Stockholm Beauty Week report, I saw there Welleda and Rosenserien, 2 very famous organic brands. Rosenserien’s newest product and a TOP-product, I may say, very useful and well-needed on the market (Why no one else thought of that?) is the Carrot Oil. It smells so fresh and delicious and leaves a really nice colour on the face! I’ve used it on the beach 😀

Did you know that carrot oil can be used on skin for a remarkable sun tan and on hair for glow and hydration?

stockholm beauty week, rosenserien brand carrot oil and other amazing products

Furthermore, Annemarie Borlind, Swedish beauty brand founded 50 years ago, presented to me a new product which is a beauty shot for intensive cure with fast results. It comes in form of a syringe with 30 applications content, and in three different variants for different types of skin: Skin & Pore Balancer, Anti-Aging Revitalizer and Vitamin Energizer – which is also the one I am trying right now in my skin diet. It has a really nice consistency, and after using it one week, I feel it boosted up and illuminated my face.

Last, but not least is this organic skin oil Me Anima, which is so beautifully presented and really, really useful in any conditions. I made my homework when I was there, and after I talked to its creator, Katties Åkesson, I found out a few details that make this brand so exciting! Katties is a skin therapist with long experience in aromatherapy, that discovered the power of essential oils and decided to create mixtures that work magic! And so it was born Me Anima with only natural ingredients and products as face oil, nail oil, mother oil or baby oil. I’ve tested the products and they smell absolutely amazing!

Here was my report from this year’s event, with a list of my favourite discoveries, but I forgot to mention that the event this year was very well organised, many of the brands had their own room, instead of booth, or shared a room with another brand. I’ve seen face or cellulite treatments, home spray tanning solutions or even Filorga filling treatments happening over there. It was exciting, however I didn’t have time to get one 🙂

As a reminder about last year’s event, go ahead and check it here.

Other than that, hope you found some inspiration here. I definitely found lots there.

Have a great end of the weekend and beginning of the week and let me know your thoughts!

Stay beautiful, stay healthy and pay it forward!

Didn’t I mention this in my New trends in Fashion, Beauty and Home in 2015 article some time ago? As promised, after I attended Stockholm Beauty Week press and bloggers event on Monday, I will share with you my experience there, whatever things I’ve learned and all the new revolutionary products I discovered during the event. But to summarize, this year’s event was all about natural, ecological and organic beauty products. Is that where the trends are going? Probably yes, since Scandinavia is the kickstarter of everything trendy.

Nature gives the best cosmetics

What surprised me at the Stockholm beauty Week, is the unexpected fact that all the beauty brands attending the event were nature oriented brands. It surprised me in a pleasant way. All the presented products were either 100% from natural ingredients, ecological, organic, holistic, bio or aiming to become 100% natural. Actually, I keen to believe that the theme of the event was healthy beauty. Besides cosmetic, there were a number of other brands that relate to our beauty, THE INNER ONE: personal trainers presenting their spring boot-camps with customized diets and products to be used on the go and raw/vegan food or juice companies that showed the importance of the amount of vitamins we add into our bodies, from a beauty perspective.

Many new and interesting brands were showcasing their products at Stockholm Beauty Week, to name a few of them: True Organic of Sweden – Tina, the responsible for the brand at the event, was so nice and gave me a few products to try at home, and will sure do! The brand uses only natural oils as ingredients, but what most impressed me is their packaging copy, tone of voice of the brand and their values! Take a look at this:

Philip Martin’s – a real Italian organic lifestyle. A totally new hair care brand for me, they recently came into the Swedish market and their products look just so classy and fabulous! Highlights: they have an organic baby kit that is perfect for gifts and one of their shampoos is favourited by the amazing designer Valentino – I was offered to try it at home together with the conditioner. It’s hard to make me change my Kerastase shampoos, but I’ll give it a try and see what Valentino loves about it!

Compagnie de Provence – not a first for me, I’ve been using their hand soaps for a long time now. I love their packaging, so simple, minimalist and glamorous at the same time, and the quality is absolutely satisfying! Maybe you’ve seen them in shops, they can’t be missed!

Natura Siberica – beautiful packages and ecologic certified products for body, hair and face.

Innovation – Airbrush makeup

The first time for me to see this new make up technique and I must say I’m really impressed! The foundation is clearly less visible than through the traditional way! Still not sure about pricing or if you can have one at home, but I guess father Google could help us with that. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a quality picture on that. 🙁 So much people around that my camera was shaking all the time! 🙂

Trends – Sweden goes for the natural beauty

It’s as simply as it sounds. The times when wearing much make up was the hottest way you could affirm yourself, are now gone. Wearing make up, for me is essential, you know I wouldn’t ever leave the house without SPF, foundation, mascara and lipstick. Maybe skip mascara sometimes, when my eyes are fresh and big. 🙂 The makeup trends are going into a natural, relatively neutral look, centering the attention on the health of the skin, eyes and lips. For that, it is extremely important to use all the pre-makeup products that are moisturizing, as well as deep treatments with natural oils, serums or creams.

What we do when we’re young, influences the future us

Make up routines should include the preparation of your skin, meaning: cleansing, toning, hydrating and SPF or primer added just before you apply foundation, as well as hydrating the eyes, which means you should use a special eye-cream or serum before applying any concealer. I know it sounds hard, using so many products just before make up, but the specialists suggest we do that if we want to look beautiful, younger and fresh, later on in life.

DSC02917DSC02937

It was a pleasant experience to be there and I will definitely do it next year again, to find out the trends, to discover new brands and products, and to hear the educative speeches regarding beauty and the future of it.

Before I leave, I even got a goodiebag with products from all the exhibitors, ha! They offered this to all the press and bloggers that attended the event. Cute and useful. I’ll now try the products for myself, exciting, right?

Hope you got some information about what’s in trend, but to be sure:

  •  Ecological, organic beauty products are HOT!
  •  Because healthy is the new sexy!
  •  Natural beauty takes over!

If you liked it, spread the word and share it with your friends!

Be loved!

Beauty Through My Eyes

be yourself, beauty events, beauty is femininity, beauty through my eyes, beauty tips, beauty tricks, event in stockholm, so stockholm event, stockholm beauty week, what is beauty

To me, beauty means femininity. I think it’s important to notice that nowadays beauty is not a word only for women, even though we are the beautiful sex. Men are more and more involved in the beauty or fashion industry and I’m not talking here only about the professional level, but also about men’s interest in beauty products, treatments or their desire to be remarked, appreciated or just younger. So yes, beauty to me still means femininity, even though I respect those men interested in it.

Beauty’s definition is self-confidence. But one can’t survive without the other. It’s such a complex subject, but in a way so simple. Imagine this: 2 women, same make up and hairstyle, one feels good in it, the other doesn’t. Which one of them will be more beautiful? I think that explains it all. Just be yourself and wear whatever makes you feel good, but try to always add something new into your style. A small piece at least, like a hat or different type of sunglasses, rings or necklaces, a different shade of lipstick. For me it works this way, something new gives me more self confidence. I think it applies to many women, though. What means beauty for you?

I wrote this, on my sunny balcony this morning, after I got the invitation to Stockholm Beauty Week tomorrow, where, of course, beauty will be the primary subject. Last year’s event took place in So Stockholm and so is this year. Isabella Lowengrip, aka Blondinbella, was one of the guest speakers, to introduce her cosmetic line LLC. I will attend the press & media events from 10:00 to 13:00, and some of the afternoon seminaries. I’m so excited to see the new trends in beauty, and mostly, to find out what newbies are on the Swedish market. Follow my Instagram, @ByLorellay, where I’ll be posting pictures and videos from the event and stay tuned, next week I’ll be writing here about it!

My beauty rituals #1 – Miracle oils for hair growth and hydration

Darlings, we all know how important it is to look fresh, healthy and young, no matter the age. At the beginning of the year I made a post regarding new trends in fashion, home interior and lifestyle where I mentioned that staying and looking healthy is very important for us women. Beauty comes from the inside, indeed, but our skin, hair and nails need a boost every once in a while, so that we could shine like a diamond and keep ourselves young. With all the external factors that are damaging our skin and hair as makeup, temperature changes, hair painting or the tools we use in hairstyling, we need to keep a balance in order to look healthy.

There are lots of tricks that I’ve learned and experienced and that I have been very satisfied with.  And now I want to share them with you. I will show you some general homemade tips for hair hydration and hair growth. Remember, I always experience new things, so I change my beauty routines every once in a while. And I suggest you do that as well. Each season our skin and hair goes through different changes and the products we are using must be adapted to our needs.

The best way to hydrate and repair your hair is by using natural oils in combination with good hair care products. Usage of oils is the oldest form of cosmetic, Egyptian men and women being the first ones who discovered that they could use different types of oils to clean and soften their skin, to mask body odor or to treat different areas as lips, hair or sunburned skin. 12.000 years later, we are still using them to repair the damages that other commercial products are causing. Irony! 🙂

As for the homemade treatments, these are few of my favorite combinations of oils for hair:

                      Hydrating Natural Oil Mixtures

Oil mixture coconut oil olive oil and honey for hair hydrating. oils for hair

Coconut oil, olive oil and honey mixture. I use this every week to hydrate my hair ends.

  1. Coconut Oil + Olive Oil + Honey
  2. Coconut Oil + Argan Oil
  3. Argan Oil + Almond Oil
  4. Olive Oil + Smashed Avocado
  5. Argan Oil + Honey + Few drops of Tea Tree Oil

How to use

  • The quantities depend on each hair size and volume, so just go with your instincts, but try to add almost equal measures.
  • Do not add the combinations on your scalp. These combinations I use only for my hair, WITHOUT APPLYING ON THE ROOTS. They are very fat and will make your roots greasy.
  • Spread your hair in 7 – 10 parts, apply the combination and massage very gently on each part. When you are ready, tie your hair and cover it with a shower cap. This will help the oil get into your hair fiber, because oils are activated only in warm and wet environments.
  • Try to sleep all night with it and wash it off in the morning. If not possible, leave the mixture at least for 2, 3 hours and then wash.

There are so many combinations you can make between these oils, the important thing is that you apply a treatment every week.

                              Oils for hair growth

Years ago I used to have much shorter hair and I suffered really much because I wanted so badly to have long hair! The reason for that were the bad quality products I used before I learned more about beauty. Hair grows faster if you boost up the speed little bit with natural oils as castor and tea tree oil. I haven’t tried them together yet. Use castor oil once a week by massaging your roots and scalp with it. I also use it for my eyebrows and eyelashes! For an easy use, soak in a clean mascara brush! It is really amazing, and 100% functional! It gives volume to my eyelashes and it is a long term alternative to fake lashes.

Oils for hair growth

                                     Leave-in oils

Leave in hair oils Kerastase Elixir Ultimate Argan Oils for hair

Dried or broken hair ends need a special attention, if not the scissors. From my experience, if they are already destroyed, you can only use oils or treatments to prolong cutting them. But in the end, you’ll anyway need to use the scissors… To prevent damaged hair ends, use a hydrating mixture of oils on them every week, before bath, and every day a drop of any of the preferred cosmetic oils for hair. I personally use Kerastase Elixir Ultimate on my hair ends every day, because it’s not that greasy and for a thin, fine hair as mine, leave in oil is kind of destroying the hairstyle. In the past, I used also Morrocan Oil light blonde and Lee Stanford Argan Oil which are great, but I always come back to Kerastase. And my favorite of all is Liquid Crystal Oil from Technique System Repair, not sure that is the full name, I used to get it from my friend in Romania, she exclusive imported the products in the country, but once I moved to Sweden, I lost track of it. The coconut version of the oil smells incredible, it’s the least greasy and the effects on the hair are really visible after a few weeks of using it. The product is so much cheaper than anything else on the market, so if you find it anywhere, just go for it!

oils mixtures. oils for hair

These oils literally have done miracles for me. I am truly satisfied with my hair now, even though I still don’t have the hair of an oriental woman, as you can see in the picture above. My hair is thin, silky and very easy to damage, therefore it needs a high maintenance, especially since I love using the straightener and curler often. But with the help of these products I try to keep it healthy as much as I can. And of course, even though I feel so unhappy when I get a haircut, I do clip the ends every 3 months.

Take care of your hair and tell me if you tried these products and if you see any visible results in time, as I did. What other oils are you using that you are satisfied with?

Truly yours,

beauty, blonde with red lipstick, makeup, photography class, portrait of girl, powerful women, red lipstick, red soles, smart women wear red, super woman, thats my red, wear lipstick, women power

Hi to all beauties that are reading this! By reading this, it means you landed here either through that you knew my blog before and you are one of my community members, or you ended up here through a search on the internet over red lipstick, red lips or how to be a powerful woman. Either way, you are on the right road to becoming one hell of a woman!

This text will not teach you how to be a powerful woman, though. But it may help you look like one! Now let me explain you, dear, red lipstick does not grant you the entrance in the Heaven of powerful women, but it definitely grants you a one way ticket to the best YOU that can exist.

Why? It’s simple! The red lipstick gives you a super-power: SELF-CONFIDENCE! To me, it opened doors that are usually locked for women. Of course, without the brains, red lipstick would just be a color on the face. But a smart woman, one that is independent, that is influential, that create paths and followers to walk on them, wouldn’t get a plus by just using this incredible super-power? The reason I decided to write down this thought..

“Red lipstick makes you prettier in pictures”

Red is the color of the passion and love, and what is a woman without passion? A man, in my opinion. Be like a man: drive like a man, work like a man, think like a man, but don’t be one… Love like a woman, be passionate like only a woman can be and look like a woman. That doesn’t require you to wear skirts everyday, or high heels in every occasion, or makeup at work like you’re going to a party, but a minimum of lipstick and perfume you should wear EVERY TIME YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE! Even when buying bread! Believe me, people will observe you more, respect you more, admire you more and that’s a feeling we all are searching for no matter how deep inside us it’s hiding this desire.

For those of you who don’t dare to wear red lipstick:

Just do this experiment: buy a shade of red lipstick that suits your face and hair color (I’ll write soon the guide to red lipstick for every woman), use it every day for a couple of days and see how people react to your new look. Take feedback from their eyes, how often their eyes go to your mouth while speaking with you. That means you just unlocked a super power: Don’t forget that red lips intimidates people and in a negotiation process that is your secret weapon! Believe it or not, it always works for me.

My favorite formula is:

Brains + Experience + Red lipstick + Stilettos = Super Woman

red lipstick is for powerful women

That’s my RED

What is your success formula?

red message. With red lipstick wine and sole from sweden lorellay
